Church Shooting in Texas - At Least 26 Killed

in #news7 years ago (edited)

At the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas, on Sunday, a shooter opened fire killing at least 26.

The victims identities have not been released, but the church's pastor name is Frank Pomeroy, and he has confirmed that his 14-year-old daughter was among those who died.

Pastor Pomeroy's wife Sherri stated that her husband was out of town, but their daughter was inside the church when the shooting took place.

Pastor Pomeroy has described his daughter as "one very beautiful, special child."

Authorities stated a man walked into the church while service was underway and opened fire on members. One of the witnesses stated she heard at least 20 shots.

It was reported that the suspect was shot and killed after a brief police chase. There has been no confirmation from authorities whether the suspect killed himself or was brought down by officers.

Update: Shooter has been identified as: Devin Patrick Kelley (26) of New Braunfels, TX. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 2010 to 2014. Kelley was dishonorably discharged and court martialed in May 2014.

Kelley's facebook page indicated that he liked many atheist type pages and was a fan of CNN.

In addition some reports are suggesting Kelley is a left-wing Antifa member, although that has not been confirmed as of yet. This mass shooting comes just one day after the Nov4 "it begins" Antifa nationwide protests.
