Shoes made from recycled coffee
The unisex ecological sneakers designed by nat-2 are made in part with coffee waste, with them the company aims to reduce the pollution and waste that characterize the fashion industry. Recycled plastic, coffee and natural materials are the basis of these innovative ecological shoes.
After the mushroom-based shoe, the boundaries of organic footwear expand with those of coffee. The idea is the work of the German designer Sebastian Thies, member of the sixth generation of a family that manufactures shoes since 1856, and founder of nat-2, a footwear brand that uses innovative materials to create high-tech products, designed in Germany and Manufactured mainly in Italy and Spain.
The company, among other things, reports that the shoes emit a subtle smell of coffee. The soles of these original shoes are made of natural rubber, preferable to the unsustainable synthetic alternative used by many companies to avoid harsh chemicals that are dangerous for workers, which can also seep into the ground. The glue used for the assembly of the different components of the shoes is also water based and does not contain ingredients of animal origin; The template is made of natural antibacterial cork.
The process of production of the structures in which the shoes are made also seeks to reduce much of the carbon dioxide pollution of traditional coal-burning structures, which produce some 20,000 million shoes a year. The first production of coffee shoes has run out, but the company is already working on a second delivery.
