THE ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE OF A VIDEO GAME GOT OUT OF CONTROL (AND NOBODY SAW IT)
The 'non-player characters' of EVE Online sustained a massive battle with each other, of which neither the developer nor the users knew.
The artificial intelligence of the game EVE Online went out of control and unleashed a battle between three cosmic flotillas without any participation of humans, were these users or programmers, reports the portal 3Dnews.
In November 2017, the company CCP Games released an update that expanded the possibilities of the so-called 'non-player characters'. Now, according to this medium, it turns out that in this online role-playing game and massively multiplayer, these non-player characters began to fight for the control of the territories. And they did it in secret for all: for a time, about that they did not know anything neither the developer company nor the users.
Thus, the 'pirates' began to take control of the territory and the resources of the 'miners', when suddenly the fraction of the 'vagabonds' appeared in the sector. "It is unknown if it was an accident, or if artificial intelligence responded to their actions," the media reports. Then, the pirates and another fraction - the flotilla of the Amarr empire - united and fought together against the common enemy. The flotilla of Amarr defeated the vagabonds, but the pirates betrayed them and they were winners of that battle.
And nobody among the humans saw this fight: they only found out after it ended. Now CCP Games is investigating the unusual situation, to know more about the risks of an artificial intelligence out of control.
DAMN! THE START OF THE END
