Space Weather Daily Update for 12 December, 2017
Earthquake Watch, Inside Jupiter, New Island
A calm 24 hours on the Earth Facing disc. The lower, but more center, of the two coronal holes is now at center and will start moving away as the other one comes to center. Solar wind hit its peak and we didn't see much. The Planetary K-index is in high greens, but still green. No major geomagnetic storm activity.
Earthquakes
The lack of geomagnetic storms has apparently made more earthquakes a possibility. Iran had a 5.9 magnitude earthquake followed by a 4.2 magnitude aftershock. This is in the same area that had a 6.0 magnitude earthquake 11 days ago.

Washington state had a 2.7 magnitude, which isn't much, except for the area not getting many earthquakes in general.

The Chiapas, Mexico area keeps having 4+ magnitude earthquakes about every 3-5 days. This is the area that had the 8.1 magnitude earthquake back in September. This latest 4.9 magnitude earthquake is the biggest in the last month.

Space Objects
No new items added to the Near Earth Object(NEO) database.
Other News
- New island forms in Tonga. Of course, this was not the only new island. We also had Shelly Island formed and disappeared this year. The Tonga island has more lasting strength.
- NASA's Juno Probes the Depths of Jupiter's Great Red Spot. The spot that has been monitored since the mid 1800s and possibly has been around for the last 350 years. Or, if you believe some theories, since the planets collided and a large portion or all of one went into or out of Jupiter. The Great Red Spot is 1.3 times as wide as Earth, so Jupiter, a possible brown dwarf star, could have burped out any of the inner planets.

Okay, sure, the storm is only 200 miles deep, that doesn't mean a big rock that came out of it, didn't make that 200 feet of storm as it came out. Think of the storm as like a smoke ring left by the rock for that layer of gas on Jupiter.

What's going on?
Cheetah is a bot that flags articles that copy from other sources by giving it an upvote. Also, it upvotes spam comments. But, it does stupid stuff, like making a comment about similar content or to things referenced in the article if the article doesn't do the quotation exactly.
