UN denounces Child used as "Human bombs" in Nigeria

Today United Nation Today has formally made the complaint about the increase of children used as "Human Bombs"
Younger children between the ages of 8 and 15, particularly girls, are used as bombs by the jihadist (Boko Haram) in the districts of Nigeria, the UN agency said on Tuesday.

The international organization,(UNICEF) notes with concern the increase in children used for this purpose, almost four times since the beginning of the year, compared to what was 2016.

Since January 1, 2017, 85 children were used as human bombs, including 53 girls, who usually did not reach the age of 15.

UNICEF has figures for 27 children, as well as a newborn baby girl carrying on her back.

Using children as human bombs is an "atrocity," said the UNICEF, which estimated that those children are only "victims" and not the perpetrators of the attacks.

Often, though not in all cases, Boko Haram has accepted responsibility for attacks on civilians.

About 1.5 million people have moved and left their homes in the northeast after the Islamist attacks that began in 2009 that killed some 21,000 lives

Because of violence, Nigeria faces the specter of hunger, UNICEF warned, which estimates that some 430,000 children will be malnourished this year.
