What do Donald Trump, John Boehner and Mitch McConnell all have in common with Cannabis Sativa? $$$$$ Granted, Trump basically just agreed with Gardner since he was the last person in the room to ask a question, and states rights is a buzz word the Hateful Ape can remember is popular with his base. And the wanna be crime boss just might have heard some positive things about medical marijuana. But Boehner and McConnell are on board the Green Rush road in their own ways.  Will Speaker Paul Ryan from Wisconsin get on board the Pineapple Express? Doubtful, but he does have teenagers. And Millennials  support cannabis. Ya think?

DENVER — President Donald Trump has promised to support legislation protecting the marijuana industry in states that have legalized the drug, a move that could lift a threat to the industry made by the U.S. attorney general just three months ago. Republican Sen. Cory Gardner of Colorado said Friday that Trump made the pledge to him in a Wednesday night conversation.Gardner has been pushing to reverse a decision made by Attorney General Jeff Sessions in January that removed prohibitions that kept federal prosecutors from pursuing cases against people who were following pot laws in states such as Colorado that have legalized the drug. Marijuana has been fully legalized in eight states, and 24 states allow some form of marijuana use. “President Trump has assured me that he will support a federalism-based legislative solution to fix this states’ rights issue once and for all,” Gardner said in a statement. White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Gardner’s account was accurate and the president supported states’ rights in the matter.

OBSERVER: Cigarette Aficionado and Naked Opportunist John Boehner Joins Marijuana Gravy-Train

 By Chris Roberts

"A metaphor that can capture the dramatic about-face performed this week by John Boehner—the hard-core conservative former Speaker of the House of Representatives, who’s now on the board of a legal marijuana company—may not exist. A Koch brother renouncing petroleum and living a carbon-neutral life. Richard Spencer at a Black Lives Matter march. Steve Bannon on the steering committee of the local Democratic Socialists of America. A metamorphosis, a one-eighty.Whatever. The description isn’t nearly as important as the forensics, and the meaning. This, you see, is a trend piece. Boehner, the reliable and adamant opponent to anything resembling marijuana reform during his time running Congress, now believes legal cannabis can work for him. And why not? How many billions of dollars are on the table in this game? Many. Several. And Boehner thinks he can grab a handful."

But in case you were wondering if the former prohibitionist has given up his scotch, merlot and nicotine:

Will soon to be former Speaker Paul Ryan follow Boehner's lead to marijuana millions?

Forbes: Here’s Mitch McConnell’s New Hemp Legalization Bill

By Tom Angel, Forbes & Marijuana Moment

The most powerful Republican on Capitol Hill just filed a bill to radically change federal laws that currently make cannabis illegal for all purposes.

While new legislation introduced by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) would not legalize marijuana for recreational or medical use, it would remove non-psychoactive cannabis varieties known as hemp from the Controlled Substances Act.

THE CANNABIST: Poll finds 87% of millennials believe marijuana is safer than alcohol

By Lindsey Bartlett, The Cannabist Staff

Everyone knows millennials love marijuana. Now, a handful of polls by The Tylt back up that claim — and the numbers are staggering. In a study which polled over 6,000 millenial-aged users, 84% believe marijuana should be legalized. Other cannabis-related findings from the The Tylt:
