@davidpakman Cryptocurrency makes it so people are going to be avoiding taxes in record numbers. Socialism is dead in the water in any economy where crypto exists. Communism is also completely worthless as a concept anymore as well.
Crypto is that much of a game changer. The debate is over. It doesnt matter how much you are for or against socialism. Its simply not possible to track and enforce taxation in this kind of environment.
If the purpose of crypto for most people is to avoid taxes then crypto will undoubtedly fail. I see crypto as a fundamental change in an economic system that is rampant with corruption- part of what makes crypto so great is that it's been applied to create direct democracy, where every stakeholder has a legitimate means of voting and controlling the fundamentals of the crypto. You can't find that in any publicly held company, or really any other investment. And yes, there are a lot of ways crypto is a massive game changer, but tax evasion isn't one of them.
Our current tax code (taxing crypto as property) is clearly outdated and will lead to a lot of tax evasion. But to say crypto's purpose is to avoid taxes is nowhere near the case. Crypto, in most ways, is MORE traceable than the USD.
And yes, socialism and communism are proven as failed concepts. Putting the entire economy in the public sector massively stifles growth. But putting certain parts (education, health care) would save people a lot of money, because there isn't a for profit interest getting in the middle of your necessities.
The right is afraid of socialism because socialism cannot succeed without brute, coercive action. In a word, tyranny. The right is concerned about this form of tyranny.
Well adding more social programs is certainly going to raise taxes, what are you thinking, socialized health care, socialized tuition? a 9 to 11 % tax increase is quite substantial especially if you take good care of yourself and aren't going to college.
I think people rightfully fear the government taking even more of their hard earned money. especially when there has been so much malfeasance.
One word:
Venezuela
Amen, Brother!!!
Sounds like your callers are uneducated fools who have never picked up a history book.

Its not the purpose. Its just something that comes with the technology. Nobody can control it.
And this causes huge amounts of complexity with trying to figure out how much is owed.
This fact is gonna get some money people ( tax evaders) screwed..

Doesn't sound like they should be concerned then, no?
Socialism is built on tyranny, so, yes, the right should be concerned.
Because it does not work, because it has never worked, because it never will work.
In that case it seems they shouldn't be afraid, no? Just let it keep failing.
cuz Bernie has ideas that people may like and once they get a taste of a system that works they won't give it up !!
maybe...
probable because its not much difference then communism and will rec our economy.
Cause we have seen what socialism has done to every other place that has ever tried it EVER, and it destroyed them. We are not falling for that trap.
Nearly all scandinavian countries practice democratic socialism and most of them are happier countries.

But when they give money to corporations for things they need like healthcare thats totally fine...
and what about all that money that gets burned on military industrial complex..that must be coming from somewhere?
that too. Redirecting money to more useful things would help but nope the neocons and neolibs gotta keep that death machine humming
