Lipstick Under My Burka Bhopal has a strong depiction of four general, but different age groups and background women and their gender freedoms. All these women want to break out of that shell, which the society and their men have laid on it.

The first woman is Usha Bua (portrayed by highly talented actress Ratna Pathak Shah), a widowed woman who crossed the 50-year-old and very old for the fleshly desires. But nobody knows that Usha Bawa has some kind of desires and she likes to read erotic novels.

Then there is Leela (portrayed by the finest actress Ahana Kumra), a bold, whimsical beautician who is lost in her wishes and she is married to the desire of her mother, unlike her wishes.

Rehana (portrayed by young and talented plibita Borethakur), a young, shy girl, who comes from a conservative Muslim family. While leaving the house, she wears a burqa, but when she goes to college, cool teas and denim take it.

Then there is Shirin (portrayed by Konkona Senesharma in a great way), the mother of three children, which is only a toy for her husband. Far from his married life, Shirin becomes a successful sales girl for personal gratification, though she does not tell her husband about her business.

Every character of this film is well-woven and confronting different types of prejudices and constraints, such as that which is not shown in any film. In this beautifully screened film, actresses have also made four sounds. New geniuses such as Ahana and Plabita have been able to bring their character alive, with intermittent actresses like Ratna Pathak Shah and Konkona Senesharma. As the film ends, it seems that these women are a part of our lives.

As previously mentioned, Lipstick under my burqa of Alankrita Shrivastav is not only a study of the concept of women but is also bold in many ways.
