Bantwal: CID forest cell officials arrest man with 26 parrots

Bantwal, Jan 12: In an incident which happened at Melkar near B C Road here on Friday January 11, CID forest cell officials conducted a raid and took into custody an accused along with 26 parrots he had illegally caught and kept ready for selling. The arrested man has been identified as Abdulla Fakir (40), a resident of Melkar.

The forest cell of CID from Bengaluru conducted the raid based on reliable information. CID officials had contacted Abdulla some days back on the basis of information in the guise of interested customers, and discussed with him about the sale of parrots. He was ready with his parrots when the officials in plainclothes came to him. When he was showing to them the parrots one by one, he was taken into custody along with the birds, it is said.



A case stands registered against Abdulla in the office of the range forest officer here. Reportedly he has been engaged in the business of selling parrots since the last several years. The operation, conducted under the guidance of S S Kashi, deputy superintendent of police of forest cell, was executed by sub-inspectors, H K Ravikumar and M S Ramamurthy with the help of two other staff members.
