Ethereum miners are renting Boeing 747s to ship graphics cards and AMD shares are soaring

in #news7 years ago

It's the headline of a news article on Quartz.

According to the report, “Time is critical, very critical,” in mining, Marco Streng, chief executive of Genesis Mining, a major ethereum miner, told Quartz. “For example, we are renting entire airplanes, Boeing 747s, to ship on time. Anything else, like shipping by sea, loses so much opportunity.” Wow!

The companies also don't want to product that many graphics cards because they know this interest into graphics cards will end one day and the only ones buying will be gamers again.

I dont't think so. cryptocurrency is here to stay, so there'll be demand for graphics card.

I agree, yet again, it would be interesting to have more information about why a company like AMD would not consider including GPU's for mining in their short, medium or long term forecasts. I doubt very much it means it's because they don't see a promising future in the blockchain. Is it because the mining part of the Blockchain doesn't have a future?
