Crypto News Flash #230: Indian Govt Considers Allowing Cypto Assets For Metro Rail & Airline Tickets Booking

Cryptocurrencies are certainly a thing of discussion and debate in many countries. Some countries are neutral regarding the status of cryptocurrencies and India is one of them. 

Last month, Indian government has prohibited commercial banks to provide any services to crypto related businesses including crypto exchanges and this lead to an unofficial ban on the trading and use of cryptocurrencies in India. 

For quite a long time, a committee has been created by the Indian government which is eyeing the use cases and potential future of cryptocurrencies in India, although nothing official has yet been concluded by that committee. But one of the officials of that committee has recently said something interesting.

Indian Govt might consider to use crypto tokens for Metro Rail & Airline Ticket Bookings. 

As per this source, the statement goes like this:

 The committee is examining if crypto tokens can be used to replace smart cards such as metro cards in the public sector to start with. Similarly, in the private sector, it can be used in loyalty programs such as air miles where its use is limited to buying the next ticket and can’t be converted into money. 

Well, of this happens, certainly a new method of payment can be developed and people can reliably make payment for Metro Rail tickets without having to stand in a queue. Also, people can also earn crypto as 'loyal points' while they buy Airline tickets and then use those loyalty points for the purchase of subsequent Airline ticket.
