The Joker Origin Movie AND Jared Leto Joker & Margot Robbie Harley Quinn Film AND Suicide Squad 2, Seriously

In some interesting comic book movie news, Deadline got the scoop that Hangover director Todd Phillips will be doing a Joker origin story movie produced by Martin Scorsese and with not contain Batman.  The reason being given for this is:

 This will be the first film under a new banner that has yet to be named in which WB can expand the canon of DC properties and create unique storylines with different actors playing the iconic characters.

While that news is interesting on it's own, a second Joker related story released by Hollywood Reporter just today is stating that Jared Leto and Margot Robbie will be playing the duo of Joker and Harley with this team behind it:

 Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, directors and executive producers of the hit NBC drama This Is Us and who also wrote and helmed the 2011 film Crazy, Stupid, Love, are entering the DC cinematic universe at Warner Bros. 

BleedingCool managed to find information from the Hollywood Reporter news and make a headline of it's own regarding Suicide Squad 2:

  Suicide Squad 2 doesn’t have a director but is rumored to start shooting by 2018. 

Why is this happening?   Whether Suicide Squad was your cup of tea or having multiple movies with the same character played by different actors does or does not phase you, plus the OTHER Harley Quinn movie on the horizon as well, something good has to finally come from these things ... right?
