I don't know about you but I feel that Google is long overdue for some oversight. They're not the only ones for sure but they are becoming a bigger problem by the day. As a major gate keeper of information the way they play politics with that information is very dangerous. I'm not really sure what if anything would change to keep Google in check but I'm optimistic that we might finally have some oversight. There are a number of companies that acquired a monopoly under previous administration. Hell, while Hillary Clinton was SoS she helped Le Farge acquire a monopoly. The emails from the FTC auditors were part of a Podesta email leak, I imagine she found a way to worm out of it because it definitely never hit the mainstream news.
It is funny how China was said to paranoid authoritarians for blocking google. 5 years later we are discussing to at least regulate them.
While I dont like the idea of a strong centralized state there is a definitve agenda to have big corporations be the government of the future. This also undermines the libertarian movement, because when you are only against state power, this power will be grabbed by others namely big Corp.
Yeah 100%. Money is power and people who get power tend to try to squash their competition. Google has been helped for too long by your Obama / Clinton type politicians, hence the cozy relationship.
