In the wake of Steemfest and @neilstrauss's Rolling Stone article Steemit has picked up a little more positive press here are some of the recent articles in the news relating to Steem.

Steemit’s SteemFest discusses cryptocurrency, blockchain and adoption of decentralized social media

Steemit, the leading decentralized social media platform, has wrapped up its first-ever public event in Europe, SteemFest, which was held at the Volkshotel in Amsterdam from November 11–13.

Attended by over 200 enthusiasts from across the globe, SteemFest Amsterdam focused on a number of topics including Steemit’s growth, the rise of cryptocurrency and blockchain, and the impending mainstream adoption of decentralized social media. Many of the participants funded their travel from posts made on Steemit, as well as CEO Ned Scott and author of The Game, Neil Strauss. The community-organized event was so successful that weekly meet-ups are planned in new cities around the world every weekend.

“SteemFest was hugely successful, with more than 200 active Steem users in attendance representing more than 30 countries around the world. In my estimation, there has ever been a blockchain or social network community event like this with so much energy and so early in the platform’s history. In fact, if we are just looking at cryptocurrency users, I believe this is one of the biggest events to ever occur that has gathered actual platform users".

Additionally, there were a few discussions related to decentralised social media, which is quickly becoming the preferred form of online conversation among college students.

SteemFest is also a major promotion event for the Steemit platform itself. SteemFest deemed a success, more events planned

Decentralized social media platform Steemit has deemed SteemFest, its first European public event, a success.

SteemFest Amsterdam, which attracted more than 200 attendees from 30 countries, was a community-organized event where people discussed the rise of cryptocurrency and blockchain, the rising popularity decentralized social media and Steemit itself.

A popular discussion topic was changes in social media consumption where millennials and Generation Zs are gravitating toward decentralized, uncensored and rewards-based platforms.

That was supported by data cited by Steemit which said 63 percent of American college students surveyed see decentralized social media becoming the norm. A further 52 percent believe people should be paid for contributions which add value to online communities.
