My comment on: French school in Lebanon forced to apologize for putting Israel on map

A private French school in Beirut has sparked controversy after it emerged one of its textbooks referred to the land south of Lebanon as Israel, and not Palestine.

Under Lebanese law, not only does Israel not exist, but, it is unlawful to say it does.

Whilst this may seem odd, to say the least, for people in other countries who see Israel a a normal country, there are quite a few countries that don't. Most of them belong to the Arab League (19 of the 21 member). More information about this can be found here:

A point that needs to be made here is that this just shows how contraversial the decision to move the US embassy to Jerusalem actually is.
