Igor Korotchenko, Director of the Center for the Analysis of the World Trade in Arms (CAMTO), commented on China's launch of a hypersonic Sinkun-2 (Starry Sky), saying that the PRC is most likely testing a prototype of its own maneuvering hypersonic combat unit capable of carrying a nuclear warhead , in Russia such developments have already been implemented in the newest missile system "Avangard".

The Chinese Academy of Aerospace Aerodynamics previously reported on the successful test of the Chinese hypersonic aircraft "Sinkun-2" ("Starry Sky"). The device was in the air for 10 minutes. During this time he made a series of maneuvers at an altitude of 30 kilometers and landed in the specified area.
"As far as we can judge, there is a test of a Chinese prototype of a maneuvering hypersonic combat unit capable of carrying a nuclear warhead, so China is trying to replicate on its own technological basis already implemented in Russia the development of the Avangard missile system.The PRC plans to build a similar system of strategic weapons in order to ensure its invulnerability when delivering nuclear munitions to the United States in the event of a theoretically possible military

According to him, China is consistently working to improve its capabilities in the field of hypersonic technology in order to respond to the deployment of the US global missile defense system, including its Asian segment.

"This is done in order not to devalue the potential of China's strategic nuclear forces.The concentration of China's scientific schools in the field of hypersound is aimed at working out practical results," the expert concluded.
