Block Chains and Fake News

in #news9 years ago

I was thinking of how outdated the format in which "the news" is packaged for us. Obviously is has to go. Dressed in business attire, formally sitting behind a desk, journalists narrate select edits from clips, suggesting how we should interpret what we are seeing with our own eyes. This has to go, and the fact is, it really is on its way out.

What I envision in the coming days, is a block chain that contains hashes of 15 second video clips. The concept would be very similar to STEEMIT and SYNEREO in that the video clips would be distributed across a decentralized social network platform. Possibly even using ETHEREUM or some other smart contracts, executing auto posts on various platforms once necessary parameters are met. I don't know, writing this is a thought experiment, so bare with me here.

For example, lets say someone starts uploading a video. The a hash of every 15 seconds of that content would get pumped into the memory pool for the miners, the more attention it gets, the more likely that hash of it will get written into the blockchain and those 15 second clips get linked together and that becomes news. It would be local, regional, national, global, planetary, solar systemal, however you want to consume it. Just sucks how there is always that imbalance of what is entertainment, news, advertising, and just garbage. There are tiny rats asses giving everyday to those who go live on face book just to stare at their phone. Also, it is kind of dumb how you'll see a huge crowd of people, everyone of them with their phones out filming. instead of just partaking in what is happening in front of them. What comes to mind for me is the recent coup in Turkey and this whole shit show of an election year that still isn't over. I have some other technical ideas on how this news chain would work, but I'd like to hear some other thoughts if anyone is interested.

Moreover, It might be really heavy on memory consumption, but I'm thinking a block chain of actual videos instead of hashes will be possible soon. I'm pretty sure the internet is just going to turn into a bunch of block chains talking to each other with smart contracts and atomic transfers and what not. So I don't think something like this is really too far off.

What do you think?
