Alot of People Refuse To Work With Trump Thanks To His Refusal To Condemn Hate Groups
Sixteen members of the President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities resigned Friday, citing President Donald Trump’s refusal to explicitly condemn hate groups in the wake of violent protests in Charlottesville, Virginia.
The group, many of whom former President Barack Obama had appointed to the advisory committee, sent a joint letter to Trump Friday announcing their resignation.
“The false equivalencies you push cannot stand,” they wrote, referring to Trump’s condemnation of anti-racist protesters along with white supremacists who rallied in Charlottesville. “The Administrations refusal to quickly and unequivocally condemn the cancer of hatred only further emboldens those who wish America ill. We cannot sit idly by, the way your West Wing advisors have, without speaking out against your words and actions.”
“Your values are not American values. We must be better than this. We are better than this,” they added. “If this is not clear to you, then we call on you to resign your office, too.”
Members of the group, including actor Kal Penn and attorney Andrew Weinstein, posted the letter to Twitter on Friday:
The committee, created in 1982 by former President Ronald Reagan, serves to advise the White House on cultural issues.
The group cited more than just Trump’s recent comments on racism in their letter, arguing budgetary cuts to arts and culture agencies, his approach to threats from North Korea, the president’s attempt to ban transgender individuals from serving in the military and the United States’ exit from the Paris climate agreement also contributed to their decision.
Earlier this week, Trump’s two big business councils, the American Manufacturing Council and the president’s Strategic and Policy Forum, disbanded amid criticism over the president’s response to Charlottesville. Trump tweeted it was his decision to dissolve the advisory panels to alleviate pressure on the executives, though many CEOs on the American Manufacturing Council had already resigned, citing concerns with the president’s rhetoric.

It's a shame because he did denounced the hate groups. He denounced ALL OF THEM that participated. It blows me away that CNN was even able to spin that one. I don't see how it's wise to only denounce one group when there were multiple groups there (but only one legal). Trump should have came out and said, KKK, neo-nazi, BLM and Antifa as well as local police/city officials who stood by doing nothing.
All CNN spinning crap. Trump isn't going to have people give up their 1st Amendment rights because their verbiage isn't something you want to hear. Nobody is making you attend but those that want to have the right to peaceably assembly.
Trump CONDEMNED all the hate that went on that day. Antifa/BLM are not getting a free pass on the violence especially when they were the ones that caused the violence.
Like it or not the Unite the Right had the right to be there but the other groups did not. This is the 1st right expressed in the Bill of Rights. It doesn't matter how foul you or I think someone's speech is they have the right to assemble with a permit and spew their hate. When you try to stop/block/remove this right you've started the end of our Constitution and Bill of Rights because it won't be long before the rest of the rights go as well especially once you've lost the right to speak freely.
If you or anyone else thinks Trump like's the KKK or Nazi's you're crazy. His daughter, son-in-law and grandkids are Jewish. Bannon was from Briebart and was started (still in) Jerusalem. It's foolish thinking from start to finish especially since Trump is on record for 20+ years denouncing them.
I remember not to long ago when BLM's sniper took out 5 Dallas police officers and Obama blamed everyone but BLM. He blamed the cops and culture and had the nerve to lecture the cops during the memorial service.
Obama did this several times. Remember Ferguson? Remember Obama inviting them to the White House?
Do you see Trump inviting the KKK to the White House? No he came right out and denounced ALL THE VIOLENCE that took place. Talk about CNN spinning things depending on their narrative! sheeze
