The company sent direct messages to MyFitnessPal users whose details might have been stolen and recommended that all users switch passwords

The personal data of some 150 million users of the popular fitness and nutrition application MyFitnessPal were stolen in a break last month, announced the sports company Under Armour, which owns the app.

According to the company, the details that were exposed to theft in the hack were the full names of users, their email addresses, and passwords. However, Under Armour said the passwords were protected by strong encryption. The breakthrough occurred in late February but was only discovered on March 25.

MyFitnessPal is an app that helps people keep track of their eating habits and fitness. Under Armour bought it in 2015 for $ 475 million. Under Armour said she had sent direct messages to users she suspected had been hurt. "The alert contained recommendations to MyFitnessPal users about the steps they could take to protect their information," the company said in a statement, adding that it requires users to change passwords immediately.
