Nicki Minaj’s brother faces 15 years to life in prison in child sex case
Nicki Minaj's brother has a few more days to consider his plea in his child sex abuse case.
Jelani Maraj, who was charged in December with raping a 12-year-old girl multiple times, faces 15 years to life in prison, Miriam Sholder of the Nassau County District Attorney’s office.
The case adjourned in a Long Island court on Thursday and is scheduled to resume on Monday.
The alleged victim was “someone Maraj had access to,” a source close to the case previously.
The 37-year-old was arraigned Dec. 3 on a first-degree rape charge and freed from a Nassau County jail on $100,000 bail. He reappeared in public for the first time almost a week later for a preliminary hearing.
Maraj’s younger sister, one of hip hop’s biggest stars, hasn’t commented publicly on the case.
Last August, Minaj paid $30,000 for his wedding.
"I love my brother so much man. Can't believe I cried during his wedding and his first dance like a punk," the 33-year-old wrote on Instagram at the time.
Maraj lives with his wife Jacqueline in Baldwin.
