Please Assist the Victims of Hurricane Maria in US Virgin Islands

in #news7 years ago

Hurricane Maria was the strongest hurricane to hit the Caribbean region in more than 85 years, a Category 5 hurricane with wind blowing everything on its way at more than 150 Miles/ Per Hour.

That was already 3 days ago. The aftermath of the hurricane is complete devastation and destruction. There's nothing left, all houses and infrastructure were damaged. Communication with the Remote islands were severed and barely can get in communication with the locals there via SMS messages.

I've received a message from a friend in despair there calling on everybody to help as much as possible. 'Never saw such devastation in my life'; First message came in after more than 60 hours of the hurricane's direct hit to the islands. When I asked her yesterday if any message she would like to convey to the world she replied: 'Just that we are destroyed'.

Today I received the following messages from her: 'End of times here, I kept everything open in my apartment, still damaged. Elder people have to line up for food for more than 3 hours. Not enough food, water. Businesses can only take cash here. Hunger and fear. Many can't reach their parents.

Later she sent me an SMS which was devastating by itself: 'Grief has replaced shock'.

Please note that we are talking about the US Virgin Islands, part of the state of Philadelphia which is part of the United States of America, the same country that is sending tens of billions of dollars to Israel to help it attack and steal more land of more Palestinians, the same country that spends hundreds of billions on weapons and establishing military bases worldwide just to threaten other countries. The same country that spent tens of billions of dollars on communication devices and equipment that 'fell wrongly in the hands of ISIS and Nusra Front', both Al-Qaeda terrorist groups killing Syrians.

It's time for the officials in the United States to take care of their own people, their own citizens in the US Virgin Islands and relieve their sufferings.

Please help by sharing this message of despair.

'WE NEED FOOD' - I've just been on the phone with one of the local residents in Christiansted, St. Croix, US Virgin Islands, her phone is receiving calls but it's running out of battery and there's no electricity there to recharge it.

THEY NEED FOOD, they don't have enough food supplies and they need it from the government as there are no stores there and who has some foods is asking for cash and no cash available through ATMs and other ways. They also need the government to go there and start fixing what can be fixed: Roads, electricity, buildings.. They got some water running again but not stable.
