Freed of rape in Sweden and get damage reparations

Three men who have been freed after a highly-publicised gang rape case i Fittja, south of Stockholm, gets damage reparations. The Chancellor of Justice has granted them damage reparations between 21,700 USD and 24,500USD each!
The damage reparations concern detention and other measures of force against the men.

Five men were charged in total, three of them for rape and two for complicity. All five were freed by the district court, who sharply critique flaws in the police investigation.

The woman, the plaintiff, testified about how she had been raped by several men in a stairwell in August 2016. Both she and the prosecutor appealed the district court's freeing sentence, but these appeals were later withdrawn. As such, there was no trial in the Court of Appeal.

The district court critiqued the police investigation. The case has raised much attention, causing outrage. Several protests have been held in support of the woman.
In January this year the Justice Ombudsman (JO) announced that the department will not be conducting any examination of the police investigation, instead referring this responsibility onto the police themselves.
