YPG assassinates Turkish-backed rebel leader in northwest Aleppo
BEIRUT, LEBANON (7:20 A.M.) - The Kurdish-led People's Protection Units (YPG) recently assassinated a commander from the Turkish-backed Free Syrian Army (FSA) in the Afrin region of northwest Aleppo.
According to a report from local activists in the Afrin region, the YPG fired an anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) at the vehicle of the Free Syrian Army commander, Ahmad Rahmo, killing him instantly.
In addition to killing Rahmo, the YPG managed to kill some of the Free Syrian Army commander's associates in the Afrin countryside.
The YPG has been intensifying their attacks against the Turkish-backed rebels recently, killing and wounding over 20 of the latter's fighters in Afrin.
Despite losing Afrin to the Turkish-backed rebels, the YPG has remained active in the region through their sleeper cells.
The YPG sleeper cells have wrecked havoc on the Turkish-backed rebels, forcing them to impose a curfew throughout Afrin, while also prompting the FSA to increase their police presence.
