US Coalition sets up new military base along Syrian border - PMU official

BEIRUT, LEBANON (12:00 A.M.) - The U.S. Coalition has setup a new military base along the Iraqi-Syrian border, Farhan Mahd al-Deilami, a member of Anbar province Council, told the Arabic-language Al-Ma'aloumah news site on Sunday.

According to the official from the Popular Mobilization Units (var. Hashd Al-Sha'abi), the U.S. Coalition base was setup in the western countryside of the Al-Anbar Governorate.

They further reported that the US has deployed a surprising number of troops on the northern bank of the Euphrates River, putting them within 30 km of al-Ramanah region, which is near the town of al-Qa'em at border with Syria.

Deilami added that the move will enable the U.S. Coalition to gain the upper-hand in the regions between the Al-Anbar and Nineveh provinces.

Al-Ma'aloumeh news previously quoted the PMU's Hashem al-Moussavi as saying that a number of Daesh leaders were sheltered at Iraq's border with Syria to survive current attacks by the Iraqi security forces and Hashd al-Shaabi.
