Syrian Army attacks rebel forces near Turkish observation posts
BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:30 A.M.) - The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) carried out a powerful attack against a group of rebel fighters near the Turkish observation post in northern Hama.
Led by their Republican Guard units, the Syrian Arab Army launched several surface-to-surface missiles and artillery shells towards the Free Syrian Army's (FSA) positions in the key town of Morek.
According to a military source in nearby Hama city, the Syrian Arab Army targeted the militant positions in Morek after the Free Syrian Army launched several artillery shells towards their positions in the towns of Qomhama and Taybat Al-Imam.
The Syrian Arab Army has repeatedly warned the rebel forces about launching attacks from the demilitarized zone that was established by the Russian and Turkish governments; however, the random strikes continue.
Per the demilitarized zone agreement that was established in Sochi on September 17th, all rebel forces were required to withdraw from the area in order to keep the peace around the front-lines in the Hama, Idlib, and Latakia provinces.
The rebel forces have rejected the Sochi agreement and refused to leave the demilitarized zone, despite repeated calls by the Syrian and Russian forces to withdraw from the area.
