Saudi Arabia ready and willing to send forces to Syria pending US-led coalition request

BEIRUT, LEBANON (8:20 P.M.) - Saudi Arabia is willing to send its military to areas of Syria under the control of US-backed forces according to the country's foreign minister Adel al-Jubeir.

Speaking in front of UN Secretary-General António Guterres on Monday, Adel al-Jubeir stated that Saudi Arabia has been in discussions with relevant authorities to send some of its forces from the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) to Syria pending an official request.

The development comes after Saudi Arabia offered to foot the bill for the continued presence of US forces in Syria.

The offer was made in reaction to President Donald Trump's statement that he wanted to withdraw US forces from the Arab republic.
