Israel used Russian plane for cover before downing it near Syrian coast - MoDsteemCreated with Sketch.

BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:00 P.M.) - The Russian Defence Ministry stated that a Russian Il-20 jet was downed by the Syrian Air Defence Forces after an Israeli F-16 used it as cover during its missile attack on Syrian targets. Defence Ministry Spokesperson Igor Konashenkov made the statement during a press briefing in Moscow on Tuesday.

According to the Russian Defence Ministry, four Israeli F-16 fighter jets attacked Syrian targets near the Latakia city on Monday evening, after approaching them from the Mediterranean Sea.

Konashenko said that the Israeli fighter jets approached at a low altitude and "deliberately created a dangerous situation for other aircraft and vessels in the area."

He went on to say that "the bombing was carried out near the location of the French Navy’s frigate 'Auvergne' and in the immediate vicinity of the IL-20 aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces [VKS] that was coming to landing. The Israeli pilots used the Russian jet as cover and set it up to be targeted by the Syrian Air Defence Forces [SyADF].

As a result, the Il-20, whose radar cross-section is much larger than that of the F-16, was downed by an S-200 system missile."

The Russian Defence Ministry spokesperson stressed that the Israeli aviation control and F-16 pilots must have known about the presence of the Russian Il-20 jet in the area, noting that "nevertheless, they deliberately went ahead with this provocation."

He added that Israel did not warn Russia about the planned operation, and that the warning came less than one minute before the strike, which he said "did not leave time to move the Russian plane to a safe area."

Konashenko said that the Russian Defence Ministry regards "the Israeli provocative actions as hostile," and that Moscow "[reserves] the right to an adequate response."

Hi @amnlive , are you directly affiliated with https://www.almasdarnews.com/ and have full copyright permission of Al-Masdar New stories? Other Steemit users are talking about recent censorship action against your posts: https://steemit.com/censorship/@pagandance/what-a-mess-steemit-has-become

If this Steemit (@amnlive) account is owned by Al-Masdar News, then the copy/paste-plagiarism bots should not be banning your content. I see that this post has been posted from AMN with SteemPress. That's an indication of affirmation that the @amnlive Steemit account is OWNED by Al-Masdar News. Please confirm.

I often argue that these bots are in contravention of the Terms of Service DMCA copyright infringement complaints mechanism, as well as sections of article 15. They should not be operating, in my opinion. Your responses would be appreciated.

Hi @justmeagain
Yes amnlive is the AMN steem account;

One of the problems is that we much like many other news outlets republish news from other agencies on subject matter that relates to our main focus. I.e. Tass creates a blurb about something the Russian MoD said about Chemical Weapons in Syria, that directly relates to our subject matter and we republish it, with their permission, the same as with hundreds of other sources. Cheetah then picks up the original Tass / Sputnik / Reuters / AP etc (mostly it picks up our own sites) so we're pretty much always in the Cheetah Report.

This latest ban is due to one of the journalists doing a republish article from Sputnik forgot to place the attribution line "Source: Sputnik" in the article text so it would follow the article over to other platforms (such as steem) but instead only filled in the attribution field that only displays on the website. https://steempeak.com/@amnlive/russianmodclaimshtshastransportedchlorinegastoidlib-mc5rm389p0
So the flag is technically correct, we "Cut & Pasted without attribution" in one post out of ~5000, it has since been corrected.

To say that steem is ready for mainstream publishers is probably an overstatement, we'd love to conform to the steem community ideas and bring great news coverage, but at the moment they seem to be mutually exclusive, you can do either one but not both, news coverage requires a posting frequency and sourcing that is incompatible with the community ideology.

If @ned has some idea on how to work through this, I'm all ears.

Distribution our news on steem is an experiment for AMN, and there are a few other publications that are pondering the addition of steem as a distribution channel that is watching how our little venture will pan out.

@amnlive Thank you for your reply, even if only for the record. I see that cheetah and steemcleaner also punish those who resteem your posts and nullify upvotes of your posts with downvotes. As mentioned, the behavior of these bots is in contravention of the Steemit ToS processes and stated rights of all users who have signed the agreement. False accusations of plagiarism constitute Defamation under US law. There is an appeals/dispute mechanism detailed in the ToS that you could use to resolve this issue with the bots.
