Battle for northern Yemen heats up as Saudi Coalition pushes towards capital (map)
BEIRUT, (7:40 P.M.) - The battle for northern Yemen has recently intensified between the Saudi Coalition and Houthi forces (var. Ansarallah Movement), as the former makes a big push towards the capital city of Sana'a.
Backed by heavy airstrikes, the Saudi Coalition has been launching attack-after-attack against the Houthi forces in the strategic Nihm District of eastern Sana'a.
However, most of these attacks by the Saudi Coalition have been repelled by the Houthi forces, who cannot afford to give up an inch of this imperative district in northern Yemen.
If the Saudi Coalition does manage to advance in the Nihm District, it often proves incredibly costly as their troops suffer heavy casualties at the hands of the Houthi forces.
With the new ceasefire in Hodeidah, the Saudi Coalition has shifted their attention to northern Yemen, where they have targeted the Houthi-held areas inthe Sa'ada, Sana'a, and Al-Jawf provinces.
