Afghanistan: Rockets strike Kabul during President Ghani's Eid speech (video)
BEIRUT, LEBANON (1:30 P.M.) - Rockets were fired in the direction of Kabul's diplomatic quarter as President Ashraf Ghani delivered a speech to mark the beginning of the Eid al-Adha holiday on Tuesday, local media said.
According to authorities, one rocket landed near the presidential palace, where Ghani was giving his speech, and the second one near a NATO compound and the US Embassy.
After that, military helicopters reportedly shot at the assailants near Eidgah Mosque in Reka Khana district.
Afghan officials said that the Taliban were behind the incident.
On Monday, the Taliban rejected a ceasefire offer from the Afghan government, affirming they would continue with their attacks.
