The attack on journalists is increasing all over the world.

More than 2,500 journalists have been killed since 1990 in the world.

The most horrific day for journalists was Monday. On that day, in the event of two attacks in Afghanistan, a journalist, like ten journalists and photographer, was killed one day.

And groups of journalists and media workers are saying that the event of journalistic attacks is gradually increasing.

The International Federation of Journalists, IFJ and other organizations are saying this on the 3rd of May on the occasion of the World Press Freedom Day.

IFJ says, so far a total of 32 journalists have been killed in the year 2018.

Media rights organizations have collected information about journalists who have been killed, detained or disappeared since the 1990's. Media workers, journalists' contact workers, translators, drivers are also in their survey.

IFJ says that the lowest of the past decade - 82 journalists have died in 2017. Of these, 13 were killed in Mexico, 12 in Afghanistan, 11 in Iraq, and 10 in Syria were killed. Bangladesh is one of the dead, 6 in India.

The number of journalists have increased since the war of Iraq two thousand three. In 2006, 155 people and 135 journalists were killed in 2007.

After the rise of Islamic State or IS in Syria and Iraq, journalists have been attacked only because of journalists. Robert Mahoney, of the Committee to Protect Journalists, said that these journalists did not die in crossfire or shootings, they were aimed at targets.

Besides, after the abduction of some foreign journalists and after the assassination of the press after 2012, news organizations reduced the correspondence sent to dangerous areas.

Because of this, local journalists have been more attacked than this time.

Filipinos, Russia, and Mexico were among the most dangerous countries for journalists in countries where the war was not running.

IFJ's official Ernest Sagaga says that armed groups of Afghanistan and Mexico are aimed at different objectives - but there is no difference in their policy of attack and suppression of journalists.

"Sometimes they hire gunmen or killers, but the real killer, who has ordered the killing, is always out of trial."

In the last three decades, most journalists have been imprisoned in 2017 - a total of 262 people.
