NFL Protest Part1

in #news7 years ago

NfL owners have pocketed billions of dollars. While they build lavish stadiums on the backs of the US tax payers and collect all the revenues. Last time I checked I didn’t see a reimbursement in my paycheck. I must ask who should we be questioning the players or the owners. Yes, the players are protesting in a way you may or may not agree with, but using their platform in a positive way from their perspective. I can’t blame anyone trying to create some positive change in this day and age. Notice the owners never disclosed until they got paid in 2009, they didn’t care if anyone stood for the anthem. So, if we want to start complaining about the players let’s start at the top and work our way down. When I see comments like these athletes are paid millions of dollars they should just play football I find it kind of ridiculous. This is a form of oppression which is what there standing for so your proving their points by making that statement. They may have millions now but they weren’t always well off. Many players have come from situations and places that thankfully many of us will never understand so maybe instead being so close minded and not listening, we should listen to what they have to say and we can learn something. In turn, hopefully we have more apperception for the places we live and a better understanding of what went through to get the NFL. We better start looking past our backyards and realize their problems in this country that will never be solved by any politician it’s up to us together standing with arms locked together.
So now the president, his statements divisive in nature for sure. Right now, we need unity not division you don’t think Trump didn’t know about the Nfl not standing for the anthem until they got paid I doubt it. Obviously with the amount of NFL owner support in donations he got he has rubbed elbows with NFL owners for many years and is well aware of it. Mr. Trump don’t have you a healthcare bill to worry about or maybe tax reform. How about the statement that you made about the inner cities in the all your prelection speeches you made? So, it was ok for you to talk about it to gain votes but heaven forbid an athlete take a stand and he’s a SOB pathetic. Stick to what you know which is obviously nothing about unity. I tried to give you a chance but you have shown that you are as divisive as the last several presidents. I hope my beloved country survives to become what it can be for my children’s sake but my confidence dwindles daily.
2009 No NFL player stood for the national anthem stayed in the locker room as the anthem was played until, the United States Department of Defense paid the National Football League more than $5 million in taxpayer money between 2011 to 2014 to honor U.S. soldiers and veterans at games, an investigation revealed this week.
Nearly $5.4 million was given to 14 NFL teams across the country, the bulk of which ($5.3 million) was supplied by the National Guard and the rest paid by the Army and Air Force, according to government records obtained by NJ.com.
All told, 29 of the NFL’s 31 stadiums have received public funds for construction or renovation. In the last two decades, the analysis found, taxpayers across the country have spent nearly $7 billion on stadiums for a league that surpassed $10 billion in revenue last season.
Dallas Cowboy’s owner Jerry Jones gave $1 million to Trump’s inauguration through one of his corporate entities. The owner of Washington D.C.’s NFL team, Dan Snyder, donated $1 million to Trump’s inauguration.
Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shad Khan, who linked arms in solidarity with his players Sunday, gave Trump’s inauguration $1 million. Houston Texans owner Bob McNair, donated to the inauguration and gave Trump $2 million during the campaign. Los Angeles Rams owner Stan Kroenke gave $1 million to the inauguration. Tampa Bay Buccaneers co-owner Edward Glazer, gave $250,000 to the inauguration and also donated during the campaign.
