Attention!! SBI Replacing old ATM cards to EMV cards
Due to secutiry reasons Reserve Bank of India has instructed all the banks to replace ATM/debit cards to new EMV card (Euro pay/Master/VISA). This was communicated on the circular dtd 27 27 Aug 2015. As per the circular, last date to replace the card is 31 Dec 2018 and thereafter all non-magnetic strip cards will be deactivated.
Now State Bank of India is replacing to EMV cards. If you have non magnetic strip card then you must get it replaced with new card. There have been many instances where cards were hacked through cloning. With this new magnetic technology cloning of card is not possible so its a great initiate by banking authority to prevent losses.
For SBI card replacement, there are two options to avail the replacement. One is online using their Internet banking and another is vising branch and submit request for replacement.
For online, you need to log in to the net banking using id and password. Post login you will see e-services option in Homepage. Click on that option and you will see ATM card services and clic option- Request ATM/Debit Card.
Now select the account you want the card to get replaced. Enter the name you want to be printed on the card and select type of card. SBI offer variety of debit cards under VISA, mastercard and Rupay so you need to select the one as your preference and submit the request. You card will be delivered within 7 working days to the address provided. Please note that this online service is available between 8am to 8pm India time only.
If you don't have internet banking then you can visit your state bank branch to get the EMV atm card. Please note that you need to visit the same branch where you have your account because other branch will not process your request for card replacement. You only need to submit the form and card will be delivered to your home within 7 working days.
