If you have a kid and live in the US i'd highly recommend home schooling. The education system is extremely dumbed down and everything a person needs can be learned from the internet freely. Plus you won't have to worry about your kid being shot...
The works of John Taylor Gatto is an excellent place to start for anyone who interested in the farce that is the government education system, which is designed to do the opposite of what it claims.
