Binance Charity Launches 10 Million Tree Planting Program

The first blockchain-based transparent donation platform, Binance Charity, is leading the most ambitious NFT tree planting project to date, planting 10 million trees worldwide. The Tree Millions Alliance will launch next Tuesday on September 28, led by Binance Charity.

This initiative has successfully invited 17 crypto industry platforms to help with reforestation efforts and is targeting 100 members by March 21, 2022 in celebration of the United Nations Forest Day. This multi-million dollar fundraising campaign is open to companies and individuals. For each donation made, an encrypted NFT certificate with details of the tree planted will be generated.

This redesigned the NFT as a tool to track how donor money was used and details such as tree species, where and when they were planted. As with all Binance Charity projects, 100 percent of donations will go directly to project implementing partners.

Binance Charity is partnering with Binance NFT, the world's leading NFT Marketplace as part of the Tree Millions program to plant NFT in the Metaverse and create the world's largest virtual tree-growing forest. In addition, Binance NFT will gather content creators to take part in NFT for Good to drive fundraising efforts for the Tree Millions program.

NFT for Good was first launched in June 2021 by Binance Charity and Binance NFT, with a vision to empower creativity to drive meaningful change. The NFT certificate produced for Tree Millions by Binance Charity will leverage the Binance Smart Chain, which uses less than one percent of bitcoin's energy consumption.

Binance Charity works with established environmental nonprofits to help carry out tree planting, such as One Tree Planted and the Koala Clancy Foundation. More organizations joining will be announced soon. The first phase of the project is underway with a $2 million (US) donation from Binance. Tree planting efforts have already begun in Australia, Canada, Germany, Ukraine, Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, Ghana, South Africa, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, India, Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam and Thailand.

The Tree Millions Alliance is one step in the shared vision of Binance Charity and Binance towards a greener crypto industry. Last year, Binance launched Binance Smart Chain (BSC), one of the leading green blockchains. If the bitcoin network consumes approx. 113.89 maintained per hour per year (TWh/year) and the traditional banking system consumes 263.72 TWh/year; Binance Smart Chain consumes less than one percent. BSC is very eco-friendly and cost-effective as a blockchain and as an NFT printing platform.
