I'm not sure if the phone manufacturers want this. I heard of something called memory alloy too but again I doubt if car manufacturers want it. If you break it, you will buy a new one. That's what they hope.
It will definitely destroy the market for screen repairs (which is a billion dollar market) so a lot of companies won't be happy with this!
So it's a good question if a technology like this will actually go mainstream or not.
Yes, that's a chance the developer sell out to some party who prevents this from going to market
