War On Drugs: Death Penalty

in #news7 years ago

The opioid crisis in America has come to a boiling point. President Donald Trump has decided that the only way to combat this is to use the death penalty against drug dealers. Although his full plan hasn't been revealed yet today, this was what has come to the light over the opioid crisis.

The plan will include stiffer penalties for high-intensity drug traffickers, including the death penalty for some, Andrew Bremberg, director of the White House Domestic Policy Council, told reporters Sunday.

The death penalty will not be for all drug dealers, but for the most dangerous. For your average drug dealer, a stronger approach will still be made. Longer jail times and harsh sentences. For America, this could be a blessing, as it has a high drug abuse rate, with deaths in the hundreds of thousands every year. Hopefully, this will drop the death rates that we see each year.

It's a farce, nothing but show even if the officialize it. If Trump cared at all about opioids, he could maybe get the CIA to stop importing them, and have our soldiers who currently protect the poppy fields to burn them and come home.

But instead, he's putting the CIA into greater power.

Trump is ridiculous in my opinion.
Big face but nothing behind it

The death penalty might be a bit extreme, but thinking about it, the dealers cause hundreds of deaths so I guess it's the most they can do.

Ouch, the death penalty? That is a bit harsh to me. Then again I've never been a believer in the death penalty.

Not sure what I feel about this

Definitely need a stronger approach, and better action from law enforcement... the death penalty seems a bit draconian, but then, what exactly puts fear into the drug runners??

The opioid epidemic is a very big issue. I think it's doing an injustice by not doing something about the pharmaceutical companies who are pushing these drugs on the populous. The dealer is only being supplied by the big money making industries...And let's face it, doctors are able to prescribe much of these medications. It's sad that it won't stop the drug and overdose epidemic.

That shall definitely fix some problems. Perhaps good move Trump!

This is very interesting. If he manages to make it happen, I'm sure it would be an improvement on the drug abuse situation. But the drugs need to be stopped at the source for it to be most effective.
