The Bangabandhu Satellite is the first communication satellite of Bangladesh. It was lunched on May 11, 2018. This was lunched by 'Falcon-9 Block-5' rocket.
This satellite is expected to be located at 119.1°E longitude orbital position and provide broadcasting and telecommunication services to rural areas in Bangladesh. It is designed and manufactured by Thales Alenia Space. The development of this satellite is estimated to cost '248 million US dollars'. The launch mass of this satellite is 3700 kg. This  spacecraft have a predicted lifespan to exceed 15 years.

The Bangabandhu satellite-1 was planed to be launched on an Ariane-5  rocket on December 16, 2017 to celebrate the victory day of Bangladesh. Following the lack of firm guarantee from Arianespace for that date, BTRC (Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission) chose Falcon-9 launch the vehicle instead. The launch provider of the Bangabandhu satellite-1 is "SpaceX".
Falcon 9 is a two-stage rocket designed and manufactured by SpaceX for the reliable and safe transport of satellites and the Dragon spacecraft into orbit. Falcon 9 is the first orbital class rocket capable of reflight.  

Capabilities of Bangabandhu-1 satellite
Bangabandhu satellite-1 carries 26 Ku-Band and 14 C-Band transponders with a capacity of 1600 megahertz. The satellite will expand Ku-Band coverage over all of Bangladesh. This satellite can also cover the nearby area of Bangladesh which are: India, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri -Lanka, Philippines and Indonesia. These areas are coupled with C-Band coverage of this satellite.

Bangabandhu Satellite Ground Control Station
Bangabandhu satellite-1 has two ground station, one is in  Joydebpur, Dhaka and the other is in Betbunia, Chittagong. The satellite is controlled by these two station. 

Bangladesh was spending annually more than 14 million US dollars on satellite rent to ensure connectivity of television, radio, telephone and Internet. So this satellite will make Bangladesh self-contained & Bangladesh will also earn some foreign currency by broadcasting service.
