The Bangladesh Tariff Commission, an affiliate of the Ministry of Commerce, proposed to increase the amount by 5 paisa per square foot by the last time. It was not taken in the time.

According to the Tanners Association, Bangladesh has a total of about 22 million square feet of skin per year. Of these, 64 percent 83 percent of the cow, 31.82 percent goats, 2.5 percent of buffalo and 1.2 percent sheep skin. More than half of the total skin comes in the time of the Eid-ul-Azha.

The government has been saying for several years that Bangladesh has achieved its ability to meet the requirements of local cow-goat cocoon season.

According to the Department of Livelihood, last year 1.5 million cattle were sacrificed. Now there are 1,186 million sacrificial animals in the country's farms.

In response to a question that asked why leather prices were lower than last time, the Commerce Minister came up with two reasons. According to him, the demand for leather in the international market has declined and the leather industry in Savar has not been able to fully start work there. As a result, it is not possible to properly process the skin.

Asked whether the government is hostage to the leather traders, Tofail Ahmed said, "We are friends of traders. At the international level the skin sector is in bad stages. In other sectors, the growth of the leather sector has decreased by 12 percent. To encourage businessmen, the price of leather has been reduced. Encouraging the businessmen is not to be hostage. '

Responding to a question about whether to cut the price of smuggling, the minister said, the border guarding force Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) is very strong. They will take strict action in this regard.

Tanners Association President Shahin Ahmed also spoke about the issue of leather sector. He said that 40 percent of the last year's purchase of leather is still stored, whose quality has also been damaged.
