Steven Hawking on Automation

"If machines produce everything we need, the outcome will depend on how things are distributed, everyone can enjoy a life of luxurious leisure if the machine-produced wealth is shared, or most people can end up miserably poor if the machine-owners successfully lobby against wealth redistribution."

According to Hawking capitalism itself is more scary than the danger AI itself poses. Now that he is gone we celebrate his achievements, but we also must remember his warnings.

Hawking will go exactly the way of Einstein. Anyone that tries to "politicize" his statements will be hounded at for being "divisive" and he'll be memorialized as a genius that never ever tried to challenge the status quo, because challenging the liberal status quo is bad guise. "He did the science! He's so smart! Smartest guy ever! Now please ignore everything he said about the injustices of our system."

yeah that could easily happen. Liberals love to liberalise everything they can. They need to think they are doing the right thing and that everyone else is like them (or crazy), or else their entire world crumbles.
