Introducing steemitnewbieresteeminitiative.com We Now Have A Website To Call Our Own!
After a crazy month of juggling 101 tasks I finally managed to find a theme I was happy with and complete our website. We can now be found at https://steemitnewbieresteeminitiative.com/
This is the first time I have ever done this completely on my own without help so it was slightly challenging. However, I did get to learn a lot in the process of creating a home for all of us who are focused on building a strong community of support for newbies on Steemit. In many ways it is actually still a work in progress, and over the coming week I intend to find any posts relevant to our initiative and #newbieresteemday and post them on our blog section of the site. I'm also going to be creating a featured area for contest winners to show case their work. In fact, there is probably a great deal more that can be done and this is where all of you amazing fellow newbie steemit members come in.
I NEED SUGGESTIONS:
The website like our initiative is in its infancy and still evolving. I know for a fact that we have some amazing and talented people here who would have a lot of input on things that could stream line our homepage. I had a lot of offers for help when building it but at that point I had gone through so many themes, written and deleted so many pages, uploaded and deleted so many images, tried every color scheme imaginable, that I I would have second guessed myself into oblivion and never launched it. So I figured I would put it out there for everyone to see and work from there. To be perfectly honest, I was and still am concerned that it won't be good enough. I desperately want us to have something great to call our own and I'm hoping you guys input and advice will help with that as we grow.
The homepage is OURS and belongs to OUR community. It's everyone's to play a part in developing if they choose to. The more input the better in helping to create a home page to run along side our community on the Steemit platform. So there are no bad suggestions. I am eager for everyone's feed back and I will do my best to implement suggestions.
Well guys, thank you for reading and I look forward to checking out all of your amazing content. As always Steem on!
PS: We can be found at https://steemitnewbieresteeminitiative.com/ now as well.
I think it is great that you have put so much of your effort into making this whole program a success. I will let you and the professionals sort out what is or isn't best, but I wanted to give you my sincere respect for everything you do and have done! You have ignited many hundreds of people, and touched in the thousands with your idea here.
So I agree that you should do what you are doing and put it out there and get feedback! Feedback is always great, and while you are waiting for all the suggestions to come in, I hope you get out here and visit all the wonderful people that have joined your awesome movement!!!
You've done great mudcat36, enjoy it!!!
Great work @mudcat36! Thank you so much for doing this for us! And quit second guessing yourself please...it's awesome. I love that you're asking for feedback as well; it's so nice to get everyone involved! I'll have a better look at it all and let you know if I get any ideas:) Thank you again!
Thank you @lynncoyle. I certainly need the feed back so please do not hesitate to throw any ideas that come to mind out there. It belongs to the community so new ideas and suggestions are a must. :)
Will do for sure! Thanks again for creating it and getting the ball rolling, so to speak :)
Yay!! The day is finally here! Congrats on all your hard work @mudcat36 and I'm confident all our awesome Steemians here will have some great input and ideas! It's a huge project and I know there will be so many people willing to help, give advice and feedback. This is exciting!
One small step for man - one giant leap for #newbieresteemday
Thank you @amariespeaks. I agree, and already the suggestions are pouring in so I definitely have my work cut out for me. It's exciting stuff.
Awesome job @mudcat36. I'm so excited to see my name in a website! Yayy! Maybe the experts and designers have lots of criticism (not knocking them, they are being constructive), but it serves its purpose and I love it. Thank you for doing this, it is amazing.
Thank you for giving it a look. There is a great deal of awesome critique coming in so I look forward to implementing it all. It's not my project as much as it's the communities project so the input is vital. :)
Great job to take this initiative. I smell progress and it is tremendous!
Suggestions will follow in due course but for now, I just want to celebrate the launch!
Fabulous from you! @mudcat36
Cheers @ossjay. I am doing my best to bring it all up to speed and make it a better home page. Hopefully in two weeks time I will have improved it significantly and we will have a better product. Thanks for stopping by and many blessings. :)
Two things:
I guess I am somewhat in the minority, I kind of like the intro page, but I'm also kind of easy to please. As in like can I get there from here? Thus suggestion number one.
On't and agreed. I'm waiting on the end of the posts as I want to gather all suggestions up and implement them at a sprint rather than one by one. It gives everyone a chance to weigh in as well. I appreciate the feed back bash. I definitely need as much as I can get to make a better landing site for those interested in being a part of what we do.
You got a nice start on it, and like the initiative, it will snowball and grow.
Hey @mudcat36 ,
i have like 7-8 years experience in webdesign and the whole stuff you need to know about this topic.
If i can recommend you something, then put your website asap into the maintenance mode. Your Theme is bad chosen, the categories at top are kinda "weird" and the colors are a bad choice.
This is what you should do:
Every fact i mentioned is something google hates.

@mudcat36
Thanks for putting in all the effort!
Unfortunately, I too have some experience in webdesign and WP, and I can only agree with what @deradministrator is advising you.
(Hueman is indeed a great theme. I combine it with Siteorigin's widget bundle for ease-of-use)
Why not get newbieresteemday.com?

(If I would still be in marketing modus, i'd buy it and sell it to you for a much higher price - lol)
Damn it, SteemIt community. Why are you so great? I could be making some cold, hard cash here... ;0D
Indeed. Thanks for for giving it a look @simplymike. As you are such an active member of our efforts on Steemit, I may be reaching out to you after this post for advice as I implement suggested changes. If you'd like you can reach me by email at [email protected]
It would allow for off platform brainstorming and allow you to perhaps offer advice and guidance. Thanks again for stopping by and for the advice. :)
Completely agree with this. Find a shorter domain name and sort permalinks out on the site. I suggest you look at some premium themes, there are thousands out there and will make the site look much more professional.
It is a premium theme as I have a business package, but you are definitely correct in your observation. I will need to find a more fluid and sleek theme. Luckily I have you guys help with this so don't hesitate to offer further suggestions if anything comes to mind.
That is amazing feed back and thank you for taking the time to provide it. I definitely will be taking it on board. I am going to wait until the end of this post though as I am going to wait on everyone to see the site and offer all of their suggestions as well. Then at the end of the post I am going to collect all suggestions and implement them. Yours will be at the top of that list as they are such incredibly good ones. Thank you again. I rely on informed minds like yours in this in hopes of creating a better site.
Btw, nice work @deradministrator. Clean and neat. 👌
Haha thank you =) You too.
You learn unebelievable much if you work for a web provider in the third level support.
Yesss!!!! How absolutely fantastic! What a beautiful thing you have created @mudcat36!
I have not studied the website yet but I read the "About Us" page! It explains the history of this incredible community - this proverbial "oasis in the desert". It was YOUR idea!! Speaks to the enormity of your heart and vision! I am thrilled, though not surprised that the amazing @davemccoy is your co-founder!
Thank you both for not just having the right Attitude but you took Action! You began a movement, attracting like-minded people, all fueled by the desire to "make a difference" and "help those who are in need"! Interesting how those are real-life internal motivations, not just a "Steemit Thing"! My guess is that both of you, along with so many other fantastic members are very considerate and caring people outside of Steemit, because it's just "who" and "how" you are!
As for the website itself ... it is info-packed and I will be going through as time allows. I will be sharing that link, every chance I get! There are many floundering minnows who need help and support!
Great job @mudcat36!
Thank you for such a thoughtful response! Knowing that we are creating such a great place for new users and setting a trend of positive support is an awesome reward. We haven't met yet but I will be popping over to your blog to offer what support I can with your work. Thank you for taking the time to give everything a look as well. It is appreciated.
Great progress on this initiative!
Thanks to @randomwanderings, this post was resteemed and highlighted in today's edition of The Daily Sneak.
Thank you for your efforts to create quality content!
Nice job @mudcat36! I'd second the ideas of @simplymike and @deradministrator.
You are off to a fantastic start though.
Thank you for putting in the time and effort to do this. :)
Also if you are in need of any photoshop stuff like banners or anything.. Let me know.
