Rules

TLDR; answer the prompt as a comment on this post using words from a random Wikipedia article

  1. No resteem or upvote is necessary, although it is greatly appreciated. If I get paid out more than more than 4 liquid STEEM from these posts, I will increase the number of winners.
  2. Use the Random Article feature on Wikipedia to get your valid list of words (your "White Cards", for those of you familiar with the actual party game). This link will take you to a random article. You can use any word(s) on the screen - intro, nav bar, anything!
  3. Answer in the form of a comment on this post. The format of your comment should be two lines: your word(s), and the link to the article you used (see sample answer to this week's prompt below)
  4. If you want to keep rolling for new random articles, that's your decision, although it's not in the spirit of the game. If you get a very short "stub" article or something written in another language, feel free to roll again though!
  5. If you intentionally use a specific Wikipedia article, I can't stop you, but again, it's not in the spirit of the game.

Prizes

There will be three shares of SBI awarded as prizes.

  1. One share to my own personal favorite
  2. One share to the crowd favorite (as measured by the number of upvotes, not the dollar amount)
  3. One share to a random qualifying entry

I've also set a small Steem Bounty on this post. All valid entries will qualify. I'd also recommend subscribing to @dustsweeper for maximum benefit.

This contest will run for a week, at which time I'll close it out, announce the winners, and kick off the next round.

Anyway, thanks for playing, and have fun! Here's the random Wikipedia article link again. See you in the comments below!

The real reason Steem was down last week wasn’t HF20, it was _______.

the appetites of Portuguese merchants

Álvaro Fernandes
Álvaro Fernandes (sometimes given erroneously as António Fernandes), was a 15th-century Portuguese slave-trader and explorer from Madeira, in the service of Henry the Navigator. He captained two important expeditions (in 1445 and 1446), which expanded the limit of the Portuguese discovery of the West African coast, probably as far as the northern borderlands of modern Guinea-Bissau. Álvaro Fernandes's farthest point (approximately Cape Roxo) would not be surpassed for ten years, until the voyage of Alvise Cadamosto in 1456.

That is an incredibly specific reason. But I like it XD

Me too. :-)

This one works for the cause as well as the effects of the outage :P

Ha ha! Yes, I hadn't thought about that! Although, I had a nice day off Steem as well...

Is it only me? I kept laughing when I rolled. The first one was a stub on a rugby league player. This is the 2nd one, still cracked me up.

I admit I don't quite understand this game as I don't play game. And never play any card game. Lol... This is my 1st one. And on Steemit. What a shame, considering it is my first card game in my entire life. Haha.

here is the random article I got, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pelham_Memorial_High_School

Here is the answer to complete the card : The New York City government pays for the residents' children to go to Pelham Union Free School District schools.

Pelham Memorial High School
The Pelham Memorial High School is the only high school within the town of Pelham, New York, United States. It is part of the Pelham Union Free School District.
A small portion of land that is between Pelham and Pelham Bay Park, with a total of 35 houses, is a part of the Bronx, but is cut off from the rest of the borough due to the way the county boundaries were established. The New York City government pays for the residents' children to go to Pelham Union Free School District schools, including Pelham Memorial High School, since that is more cost effective than sending school buses to take the students to New York City schools.

a village and municipality in the Babek Rayon of Nakhchivan, Azerbaijan.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zeyn%C9%99ddin

I hope I got that entry correct

Zeynəddin
Zeynəddin is a village and municipality in the Babek Rayon of Nakhchivan, Azerbaijan. It has a population of 2,377.

Wikipedia
Wikipedia ( ( listen), ( listen) WIK-ih-PEE-dee-ə) is a multilingual, web-based, free encyclopedia based on a model of openly editable content. It is the largest and most popular general reference work on the Internet, and is one of the most popular websites by Alexa rank. It is owned and supported by the Wikimedia Foundation, a non-profit organization which operates on money it receives from donors.Wikipedia was launched on January 15, 2001, by Jimmy Wales and Larry Sanger. Sanger coined its name, as a portmanteau of wiki and "encyclopedia".

Sewage pumping
Small-scale sewage pumping is normally done by a submersible pump.
This became popular in the early 1960s, when a guide-rail system was developed to lift the submersible pump out of the pump station for repair, and ended the dirty and sometimes dangerous task of sending people into the sewage or wet pit. Growth of the submersible pump for sewage pumping since has been dramatic, as an increasing number of specifiers and developers learned of their advantages.
Three classes of submersible pumps exist:

Smaller submersible pumps, used in domestic and light commercial applications, normally handle up to 55 millimetres (2.2 in) spherical solids and range from 0.75 to 2.2 kilowatts (1.01 to 2.95 hp).

Ewwww, haha, how would that even work? That's a pretty funny random article.

They are quite distracting... especially the more controversial ones.

21st Field Artillery Regiment
The 21st Field Artillery Regiment is a field artillery regiment of the United States Army first formed in 1916. A parent regiment under the U.S. Army Regimental System, all components of the regiment are currently inactive. The regiment's last active element, 1st Battalion 21st Field Artillery Regiment (United States), inactivated on 12 June 2014.

If you got that off a random Wikipedia article, that’s golden. If you would like to be eligible for a prize, check out the rules. Either way though, that’s a funny answer 😅
