I created a series of cipher puzzles for you to solve! These puzzles require some computer literacy.

Decipher the encoded messages and post the decrypted message in the comments below. If you are the first to answer correctly, I'll send you the reward for that puzzle!

The rewards are small at the moment. I might increase them later if it looks like no-one can solve them.

There are eight puzzles in this post. You can answer any one of them in any order.

All of the answers are english language words. Don't post the answer unless it's a word found in Merriam-Webster!

Good luck!

Puzzle 1 - very easy - 0.1 STEEM

"756e7769656c6479"

Puzzle 2 - very easy - SOLVED by nathanielcwm

"113 117 105 120 111 116 105 99"
Solution can be found here

Puzzle 3 - very easy - SOLVED by nathanielcwm

"ZmFsbGFjaW91cw=="
Solution can be found here

Puzzle 4 - easy - 0.2 STEEM

"65736F69646E617267"

Puzzle 5 - easy - 0.2 STEEM

"MzAgMzEgMzEgMzEgMzAgMzAgMzEgMzEgMjAgMzAgMzEgMzEgMzAgMzAgMzAgMzAgMzEgMjAgMzAgMzEgMzEgMzEgMzAgMzEgMzEgMzAgMjAgMzAgMzEgMzEgMzAgMzEgMzEgMzEgMzEgMjAgMzAgMzEgMzEgMzEgMzAgMzAgMzEgMzAgMjAgMzAgMzEgMzEgMzEgMzEgMzAgMzAgMzE="

Puzzle 6 - medium - 0.5 STEEM

"c8cae8cae4dad2dccac8"

Puzzle 7 - medium - 0.5 STEEM

"e7cfe9dbc7c9e3d1dbcd"

Puzzle 8 - hard - 1 STEEM

"b9c4bbb6bbdec9be"

Sort:

Based on the other solutions... puzzle 1 must also be ASCII characters, but in hex so we get: unwieldy

Puzzle 4 is also ASCII characters in hex, 'esiudnarg' backwards is: grandiose

Puzzle 6 gives us numbers outside the lower case ASCII range... until they're bit-shifted (or divided by 2): determined

Getting harder, good job!

Still 2 puzzles unsolved! Updated version of the cipher puzzle post can be found here and the solutions to the puzzles through this link.

Puzzle 5 is probably base64-encoded just like puzzle 3, we get

'30 31 31 31 30 30 31 31 20 30 31 31 30 30 30 30 31 20 30 31 31 31 30 31 31 30 20 30 31 31 30 31 31 31 31 20 30 31 31 31 30 30 31 30 20 30 31 31 31 31 30 30 31'

looks a lot like 8-bit groups, if 30 = 0 and 31= 1 we can interpret as

'01110011,01100001,01110110,01101111,01110010,01111001'

interpreting as ASCII again gives: savory

Puzzle 7's binary values all start and end with 1, curious indeed.

['0b11100111', '0b11001111', '0b11101001', '0b11011011', '0b11000111', '0b11001001', '0b11100011', '0b11010001', '0b11011011', '0b11001101']

but dropping one of the bits doesn't seem to result in a sensible result.

fallacious puzzle 3

That is correct! Sending you the prize.

Still 2 puzzles unsolved! Updated version of the cipher puzzle post can be found here and the solutions to the puzzles through this link.

quixoti puzzle 2

This is close enough. The correct answer is "quixotic", but I consider this a winning answer. From now on, answers should be 100% correct.
