Though I have been on STEEMIT for only a couple of days, I want to share some tips I have learned from some of the other users:

Since Steemit is still quite new ( since March ) and being in its beta stages, not all features are available. By adding photos to each post, a user can increase their chances of attracting more viewers. At this time there is no upload feature for videos or photos, I suggest users upload their photos and videos to other storage sites like Google Photos, YouTube or https://postimg.org and then copy and paste the share link into your post.

If you don't like run on sentences, other people won't either. When you write your post be sure to put your ideas into paragraphs so that your entire post doesn't look like a long train wreck. If you space the paragraphs out, people reading your story/post will feel more comfortable.

Write about something interesting that you think people would like to read. Don't just say you dropped by your nearest Starbucks to grab a coffee then took a bus to work. No, no, no ... write about how on the way to work you bumped into a real sweet guy and how the two of you skipped work to go watch a horror movie or something. But be truthful and entertaining at the same time. Bet Kim Kardashian can get a million up voted even by breathing. Anyways...

Some other things people may be interested in:

  1. The viewers get to pay the content poster directly

  2. The curators/whales who sort out the contents also get paid

  3. The Steemit system rewards people who stop other users from trolling by down voting them. I guess in a way the trollers/bullies will have so many down votes by people supporting the victim that they troller may lose money. So please be kind to one another when commenting/replying ...

  4. By posting up quality posts you are in fact helping to created a safer and more friendly platform for all who come here. Let's make Steemit, better than those censor giants like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram

  5. I'm not sure if there are features to protect younger users from adult posts but it would be great if users could put a (18+) wording in the titles of your posts so that each person can choose to click the post or not. It's just a thought I had.

WHAT IS STEEM POWER?

When a person puts up a post, other users may 'up vote' it, talk about it, chat about it ... and each vote, the writer gets for their post, gives them a little more 'Steem Power'.

Steem Power is like influence tokens that you hold and use when you vote on posts. So if you vote on posts a lot and build on Steem Power, it'll make you vote even more powerful thus Steem Power ( vote with weight in it ).

You can get Steem Power in different ways. You can put up a story post, you can comment on other user's posts and people will vote on it. The more people that vote on your post or comment/reply, the more Steem Power you get into your wallet. Another way you can get Steem Power is to buy Steem tokens. These Steem tokens are actually tradable currencies.

When there are a lot of people who have voted for you post, your post will be considered more reputable and more 'powerful/influential'.

Steem tokens can in fact be traded into Steem Power, the more Steem Power you have, your posts will be held more highly in this community. In turn, you can also turn Steem Power back into Steem tokens and spend it. But once you turn your Steem tokens into Steem Power, it'll take 2 years and 104 days for the Steem Power to be traded back into Steem tokens. Not sure why it would take that long but probably they want you holding onto that currency a little longer.

I just found out that users can post up other people's YouTube videos to get votes. Who knew. The more posts you put up, the more votes you'll get ( a user may post every 5 minutes ), the more votes you get, the more weight your own votes and posts hold. Everyone gets rewarded by post ups. So what are you waiting for, start posting and become more influential within This rising Steemit community.

Users are welcome to add their comments on what other tips will be helpful to new users of Steemit.

For those who are liking this post and want to see more, please 'follow' my Steemit account and up vote this post. Thank you for reading and have a wonderful day! ☀️

Some good nuggets in here! Don't forget the importance of images. I think this is the first all text post that I ever read here on Steemit. You kept my attention @Exoexo

I just noticed the image link. Sometimes the image hosting services that people are using don't work. I just either load to my wordpress site as media or share to Twitter first and copy the image url works perfect.

Oops! Didn't finish my reply, I'm still a newbie. Thank Yos very much for your advice. I will try them out. 🌸
