I don't agree with you. He made Russian economy better like nobody else before. Russian people are supporting Putin a lot , specially young people.
Unfortunately the rest of the world doesn't agree with them.
He is disturbing big businesses of the old European and World families that is why media is so against him.
He did help make the economy better, which I mentioned in my post. So I am sure there is some support for him because of that. And feel free to send a link to prove that point about him disturbing the businesses of old european families, I have not read about that point much so I'm not saying you're wrong but I would be curious to read about it.
The thing with Putin is that there is no denying that he is not exactly your ideal democrat leader. The guy has been in power for think nearly 20 years now. And what's more so many of his rivals over the years who have tried to have challenged him have either been "mysteriously killed" or have fled the country out of fear of being assassinated.
So I agree with you Putin picked up Russia up from the ground especially after Yeltsin's laughable career but he is becoming a bit totalitarian.
I think that he is becoming totalitarian because Russia is in the war and under the attack from the time of Gorbachev onward.
I don't think that he would stay as a President if the time is normal. He would step down long time ago. But the core of Russian nationalist think that in not normal circumstances it is not wise to change the players for Foreign and domestic politics.
It is actually questionable who is in charge Lavrov or him. If you look at the body language when they are together it seems like that Lavrov has more authority.
Russia is attacked economically , with information , using hi-tech weapons , psychologically anything than conventionally. Media is not covering that, I think that is why he is there.
