However, with the rise of IT technologies, users also have to solve the corresponding problems like cyberattacks, thefts of personal information stored online, etc. The decentralized security platform REMME aims to guard the user’s data on its way through the Internet-connected channels of service providers and regular users.

Based on the OSI multi-layered architecture, REMME works on the different layers and architectural components:

  • Physical;
  • Network;
  • Applications;
  • Sessions;
  • Presentations;
  • Data link;
  • Transportation.

The multi-layered ecosystem can offer a few solutions to protect corporate clients and regular users from a number of widespread cybercrimes.

Most common cybercrimes and how can REMME help?

1. Hardware Trojan

To solve this problem REMME suggests to use the indirect strategy for protection from any contagious hardware that is operating via the physical devices. In a case a standard USB disk was used for keylogging, the REMME service is capable of mitigating all lost data, because the user won’t have to type any passwords. Unique digital certificates by REMME can be also provided for all supported USB devices (the upcoming updates of REMME will bring this feature in the nearest future).

2. DDoS attacks

Probably it is one of the most widespread cyberattacks. There are low-level (simply SYN floods) and high-level (when many simultaneous requests prevent the entry to web servers) DDoS attacks. REMME by means of SSL can be prevent or limit this access to the affected application both on the levels of transportation (TSL) and major channel (IPSec).

3. Pharming

This kind of attack simply redirects an Internet user to any false IP-address. Then scammer use the counterfiet DNS response page to frame this user and make him an easy target for phishing. REMME tech can define such scheme and prevent the connection to the certificate with a wrong signature.

4. Man-in-the-middle attacks (MiM)

ARP-spoofs, substitution of DNS server responses, assaults on weak BGP routers – these are the methods classified as MiM crimes when the user’s data is modified and encrypted via the another system coming on the major channel’s way. REMME presents the powerful techs capable of eliminating any risks of replacing or wiretapping the user’s data. Hackers simply won’t manage to install any non-real certificates and plug them in the user’s system.

5. Malicious add-ons for web browsers

Add-ons for web browsers are widespread these days, but all extensions have to be double checked because it is also one of the most popular ways or hackers to steal the personal data. For instance, in 2017 over 37K users were tricked into using a malicious add-on resembling AdBlock for Google Chrome. REMME provides SSL certificates based on blockchain for user verification. It is stored in a secret storage that can’t be penetrated. Hackers can’t reach the REMME’s certificates by means of add-ons. Even if he manages to do this, the certificates are still protected with key phrases.

6. Brute-force attacks and password mining

Thanks to REMME, any brute force attacks and further password mining can be prevented due to the use of asymmetrical cryptography. Hackers will have a zero chance of success in such scenario.

7. Phishing attacks of all types

This is a planned and targeted attack via emails where the human factor is exploited along with the methods of social engineering. Usually, the links set via emails make users click them and go to the fake websites with malware and viruses. REMME offers the S/MIME tech for signing emails via private keys by adding an x.509 certificate signed by the public key in the hidden message. It means the user can easily check the message’s source and prevent yourself from clicking the fake link.
