RE: Could the U.S. be ready to stage a false flag operation regarding Russia

in #new8 years ago

A little bit of research shows that the president does NOT have the power to postpone the election. The decision is made on a state by state basis (by the states!) so this is incredibly unlikely. There has never been a postponement of an election due to us being in a war. I doubt there will be now. Besides, a postponement would be more to Trump's advantage than it would be for Clinton. Why would Obama do Trump any favors?

Sort:

If he declares a state of emergency in the united states this action would definitely postpone the election and he could also impliment marshal law.

well in that sense America has always been at war with somebody. So today is no different than any other day.

Even if Obama does declare Martial Law, Congress can reject his move and, at worse, the Supreme Court can return things to normal, despite what the scare-mongers are saying. Don't take this to mean that I think Obama is always right. But he can't just decide he wants to stay in the White House.

I agree. The electoral process needs to continue. There's a reason a max of two terms is implemented. This deters from having a tyrannical government seize control.
