Tuesday
The next day at school Erin was hanging around with Alyssa more than usual. She walked with her in between classes and sat with her at

lunch. Erin talked with her about boys, music, the snowstorm and everything.
At gym class she told Alyssa about a show she watched about a haunting. Alyssa said that she saw the show. Erin asked if she believed the people on the show. Alyssa said she did because over the last year she had experienced strange things at her house. Erin asked what happened and was told that doors would slam and drinks would fall. Sometimes she thought she saw shadows darting around. She said that last year she didn’t believe in ghosts but now she thought they were real.
Erin asked if she was afraid and Alyssa said no because the shows on television said that no one has ever been hurt by a ghost. Erin said she would like to see stuff like that and Alyssa said to come over and they could see if anything happened. Erin said that would be cool.
Erin said she would ask her Mom and tell Alyssa tomorrow if she was aloud to visit. Alyssa said that was fine and that she would check with her grandparents. Erin was pleased with the outcome and couldn’t wait to tell Teddy.
After school Erin and Teddy met outside and started their walk home.
“Guess what, Alyssa invited me over,” said Erin.

“That’s good. When?” asked Teddy.
“I think tomorrow. She didn’t really say when but she did say there was paranormal activity at the house,” said Erin.
“Wow, that’s great, how did you get that out of her?” asked Teddy.
“I just started talking about that television show that tells about haunting. Then she just started talking. She said there were apparitions, doors slamming and glasses falling and breaking on the floor,” said Erin.
“How long has this been going on?” asked Teddy.
“Just about a year,” said Erin.
“She must be there. That’s so cool. We have to get her on film. When you go over you have to set up a couple cameras. Just put them in corners or on shelves. I don’t think anyone will even notice them,” said Teddy.
“Yeah I’d like to film it too but what if they found a camera?” asked Erin.
“Don’t worry about that. I wonder if you could get over there tomorrow and stay through Saturday. We’d probably get something on tape if you could stay that long. Plus you’d be there if anything happened,” said Teddy.

“That’s easy for you to say. I’m not going without something to defend myself. I’ll need iron, salt and holy water. I’d really like to have that potion too,” said Erin.
“I’ll get everything you’ll need. Do you think you could get me invited?’ asked Teddy.
“Yeah right like that’s going to happen,” said Erin.
“Just try. If you can’t I’ll think of something else,” said Teddy.
They made it home and went in. Mom was home and working in her office. She came out and greeted the kids. She asked how their day went. Teddy said his day was fine and that nothing unusual happened. Erin said she was invited to Alyssa’s house and asked if she could go.
“When do you want to go?” asked Mom.
“I’m not sure. Alyssa is asking her grandparents and she’ll tell me tomorrow. It might be as soon as tomorrow night. She’s going to call me later,” said Erin.
“I’ll talk to Dad and we’ll let you know,” said Mom.
“Thanks Mom,” said Erin.
The kids went upstairs and Mom returned to work in her office. In Teddy’s room they looked over the files. They were finished with Officer

Bishop’s files so they shredded them and put the clippings in a bag. They packed all of Miss. Simon’s paperwork in a folder that they would return tomorrow after school. Anything they needed was scanned to a file on Teddy’s laptop.
They called Officer Bishop and gave him an update. They told him that the files were shredded and would be burned in the fireplace. They told him everything they discovered about the case and asked him for two favors.
“Can you check into Alyssa’s family for anyone with a record,” said Erin.
“Consider it done. What’s the second favor?” asked Officer Bishop.
“This is the big one. We need you to find the girls grave and open it incase we have to burn the remains,” said Teddy.
“You must be kidding. Why in the world would you have to do that?” asked Officer Bishop.
“There’s only two ways to get rid of a dangerous spirit, a potion or burn the remains. If the potion fails we have to burn the remains. If she kills the tenth victim she’ll open a portal and release an army of evil on the earth. Then we’ll really have our hands full,” said Teddy.
“I’m sorry but I can’t do it. You don’t realize what you’re asking of me. Beside all the laws I’d be

breaking, morally I just can’t do something like that,” said Officer Bishop.
“You’re the only one that knows about the supernatural except Erin and me. Who else could we ask,” said Teddy.
“I don’t know. You’ll have to find another way. I’m sorry but, listen I have to go,” said Officer Bishop.
Officer Bishop hung up his phone. The kids understood how he felt but they were sure he would help. Now that he wasn’t going to help they needed to adjust their plan.
It was Tuesday night and they had done everything they could for that day.
Wednesday
Wednesday at school Alyssa told Erin she could come over Thursday and spend the night since Friday was an in service day for the teachers and the kids didn’t have school. Erin already had permission from her parents so the date was set.
Erin and Teddy went to the library after school. They gave Miss. Simon her files back. They told her about the phone call to Officer Bishop and asked if she knew anyone that could dig up the grave. She told them not to worry. She would make sure the grave was open if the potion failed.

She told them that the potion was prepared and had been shipped. She was tracking it and that it would arrive tomorrow morning at the library. The kids said they would stop by after school to pick it up.
