Get Moving

Wise words, though surely procured over time from mentors to students, the last place I heard them was listening to former SEAL team commander Jocko' s podcast.

The message is simple: prioritize your objectives and get after it. List them in a practical order, standardizing your system to execute tasks with efficiency, tackling items that can be handled together, in tandem. Methodically breaking down larger problems/tasks into bits that can be completed with each segment representing another block in the chain that will bring about the resolution: another task with a check mark next to it.

Application

Using this principle in our own lives, my wife and I planned out the day and went about solving some issues around the house with laser-like focus.

Although I worked late into the night at my "day job", I made it a priority to wake up in time to eat breakfast with my wife and son, and plan out our day of progress. It certainly helped to bring some clarity to our agenda and started the day off with some positive team building.

As the day has gone on, we have maintained that focus and made sure to mark progress and use it to drive the next success.

Round off

Though stiflingly simple, this principle of prioritize and execute can be difficult for chronic procrastinators such as myself to actually implement. But as an initiative towards greater personal freedom through discipline and self motivation, some close friends and family are working together to improve our personal adherence to principles like this going forward.

I hope y'all will join us on our journey to independence and resolute determination!

Thanks to #Steemit and the community that makes all of this possible. What a great outlet to grow through all of our shared experiences.

Jocko is awesome. Need to listen more.

I also need to work on chronic procrastination. It's too easy to not get things done. I need some kind of list. On my phone. Cause I've proven incapable of keeping track of a notebook 😂

Not incapable, but there certainly might be more efficient ways. I just use the basic memo pad on my phone with good success.

Memo pad. I'll look and see if I have it.
