New Year's celebration is apparently not something new, it even turns out to be a very ancient culture, some people do it. Among these celebrations is the Nairuz holiday, in the book al Qomus. Nairuz is the first day of the year, and it is the beginning of the solar year.

The people of Medina used to celebrate it before the arrival of the Prophet. When examined, it turns out that this is the biggest holiday of the Persians, the Zoroastrians, fire worshipers. It is said in several references that the originator of the first one was one of their kings, named Jamsyad.

When the Prophet came to Medina he found them having fun celebrating it with various games, the Prophet said: 'What are these two days', they replied, 'We used to play with him in the time of ignorance', then the Prophet said:

إِنَّ اللَّهَ قَدْ أَبْدَلَكُمْ بِهِمَا خَيْرًا مِنْهُمَا يَوْمَ الأَضْحَى وَيَوْمَ الْفِطْر

“Indeed, Allah has replaced those two days for you with the better of the two, namely Eid al-Adha and Eid al-Fitr. [Saheeh, HR Abu Dawud validated by ash shaykh al Albani].

The translators of hadith say that what is meant by the two days which they previously celebrated were Nairuz and Muhrojan [Mir'atul mafatih] days. Apart from the magi, it turns out that the Jews also have a habit of celebrating the beginning of the year, some sources say that the celebration of the beginning of the year is a Jewish holiday, they call it Ra'su Haisya which means the holiday at the end of the month, the position of this holiday in their view a kind of status of Eid al-Adha for Muslims.

Then Christians follow in the footsteps of the Jews so they also celebrate the new year. And they also have certain beliefs related to the beginning of this year. [Bida' Hauliiyyah]

It is possible that there are other people who also celebrate the beginning of the year or the new year, as mentioned by several sources. What is clear, who are they? Of course, not Muslims, even the Zoroastrians, the fire worshipers, the Christians who worship Jesus and the Jews who worship Uzair.

So who are you joining in this New Year's celebration?
