Pi ANNOUNCEMENT: Pi Will Soon Be Enabling Transfers!
Hello, fellow Pi-oneers! For those of you who do not know what Pi is, please read my article to find out! WTF is Pi?!?!.
The announcement that I have for my fellow steemians and Pi-oneers today is this:
Pi will be enabling transfers of Pi to a select, small community of it's current miners. Yes! That's right! Some of Pi's coming features will be opened up to a small community for testing! The selection of which miners will be allowed in on this is coming soon, so if you aren't yet mining Pi, it's a good time to start! Click on the link above to learn about Pi and Pi mining from STELLAR (currency of STELLAR is 'XLM.')
STELLAR is one of the major global cryptocurrencies and ranks third in major currencies for global transfer. It is also the most cost-effective way, that I am aware of, for transferring money to anyone, anywhere. The ability to transfer Pi between it's users is the first stage to establishing it's value. Why are these features only being opened to a small portion of the Pi community to start?
The purpose of this, is to keep Pi's economic system healthy and to find problems and work out new strategies in preparation for the project to hit mainnet. If Pi is traded within a small, control community, then the value of the new coin can be kept safe and built mechanically. If you have a ton of currency available to be traded, but very few products or people creating or selling new things, what would happen to the value? It would of course decrease significantly. Value is about supply and demand. Pi will have to add more users contributing new things to be bought and sold on the market in relation to the amount of Pi available to be traded within it's community. This should significantly effect it's value.
Also, opening up testnet markets should help to balance out the average holding sizes among miners in the Pi community as a whole, building the stability and health of the ecosystem. It would be economically unhealthy to release Pi onto mainnet before any stable balance of holdings was achieved. This would cause enormous fluctuations in price and volatility, which would be detrimental to the currencies liquidity on exchanges. This would reduce the overall appeal of holding Pi and also reduce it's overall value, based on market-psychology.
